Team Stories
Glenda Parkman
For 30 years Glenda Parkman worked for the state of South Carolina. She helped companies find qualified employees, including the Haile team. “In 2010 I was coming up on retirement and wondering what I would do next. I asked Haile’s HR manager if they had any part-time jobs.”
Haile only had a full-time opportunity. Glenda took a chance and transitioned from government work to the private sector. “That was a big change.” But it was also exciting. She assisted in the hiring of the very people who would help re-start a 200-year old mine and introduce modern mining techniques to the community. “When I got here I knew it was the best thing I’ve ever done.”
Glenda has been promoted, and now serves as the hiring manager for the entire facility. “From the corporate office down, they respect us and want to do right by the community. We have great management here at Haile. They allow us to do our jobs, while holding us accountable.”
The culture at Haile is attracting skilled and experienced employees from other high-profile companies in the region. “89% of our employees live in the local area.”
Glenda is one of those local employees. She is from nearby Lancaster and still lives there with her husband and son. “During my career with the state of South Carolina, I’ve worked with hundreds of different employers, but I can honestly say there is not another place I would rather work than Haile.”
