Haile Gold Mine Launches Safety Program “Core Behaviors”

On February 12, 2019, more than 600 Haile Gold Mine employees and contractors gathered for the launch of Haile’s new safety program, Core Behaviors. This “bottom-up” approach to safety is led by workers with an emphasis on the need to look after each other.

Haile began developing the program in 2018. Safety Leaders were nominated to be active discussion leaders on the topics of Health, Safety and Wellbeing issues affecting everyone on site.

After analyzing the Haile Gold Mine, the safety leaders came up with the core behaviors they all need to follow to achieve their goal of “zero fatalities and serious injuries”.

The name Core Behaviors highlights the four behaviors supporting safety: Accountability, Speak Up, Recognize & Report Hazards and Follow Procedures.

Haile team members suggested ideas for a logo and this mark below was chosen with the tag line: “Together Everyone AchievesMore” or TEAM that reinforces the idea of everyone looking out for each other.
